Welcome to Oxford Board Gaymers!
Founded in 2015 and with over 500 members we are Oxford’s go-to group for LGBTQ+ individuals looking to join a thriving social scene built around the joy of board gaming. We meet fortnightly at cosy little pubs across Oxford, offering something for everyone. Whether you’re after light party games over a few pints or a more in-depth, 1-2 hour strategy experience with a smaller group, you’ll find your fit, and maybe a few new friends along the way!
If you’re new to the group don’t be shy! We’re a very welcoming bunch and will get you meeting new people and playing games in no time. Don’t be afraid to bring your own games along too, we’re always excited to try something new.
Event Categories
The events that we run at Oxford Board Gaymers usually fall within 1 of 3 categories:
Light & Lively: Evenings like these are often focused on light strategy/party games, large player counts and 10-20 min play lengths, encouraging a little more social mixing and banter. As such you can drop in/out of these sessions as you’re never long away from a new game starting.
Medium & Meaningful: These evenings offer a good balance of social interaction and strategic depth. Game play lengths are usually 1-2 hours with 3-5 player counts, often starting around 6:45pm to give people a chance to eat and socialise. At 7:30pm we then usually split into groups depending on whats on offer to play and who’s on offer to teach, so highly recommended to arrive by this time if you’re interested in joining us.
Heavy & Hardcore (coming soon): We’ve recently had interest in holding a weekend daytime session of Oxford Board Gaymers where the focus is on games that provide a deeply immersive experience with a significant time commitment (3-5 hours). Plans are still in the works so watch this space.

Description: This week we return to the Slow and Steady on Abingdon Road. What makes this exciting is that it’s run by the Dodo group who know how to run a good pub (Rusty Bicycle, Rickety Press, Up in Arms) and they have a gorgeous upstairs library area that we practically have all to ourselves, especially in the spring/summer time.
